Brow-mance

It’s no secret that a strong brow is IN. The days of over tweezing are gone and bold brows have swept us off our feet. I have a pretty wimpy natural brow, my hair grows lighter than on my head and grows sparse. I’ve longed for bushy, full brows to live happily ever after with, and while I have yet to find my soulmate, I have encountered some notable brows through experimenting with many different products.

Below I have compiled 3 brows that have made me swoon recently:

The Prep:

Clean, classic and always appropriate. Subtle enough for work, but still very attractive. To create this brow I used NO 7 Beautiful Eyebrow Sculpting Pencil. It’s angled tip helps sculpt your brow and fill in sparse areas easily. You can definitely bring this brow home to Mom.

The Wild Child:

For those fun Saturday nights that easily turn into sleepy Sunday mornings, this brow stands proud in it’s natural glory. Effortlessly cool and edgy. To create this look I used Boy Brow brow gel by Glossier. With a few quick swipes this brow gel fills, fluffs and shapes brows to look like you woke up with them. Apply a few extra swipes for fuller, bushier ‘I’m with the band’ look.

The TeleNovela Star:

Dramatic, gorgeous, and a bit complicated but totally worth it. To create this brow I used two products : Elf Eyebrow Kit and NYX Sculpt and Highlight Brow Contour. First use pencil to sculpt brow, then use eyebrow kit (brush needed) to fill and shade in brow. Lastly use highlight tip on brow pencil to highlight brow bone and blend with finger tips. Striking and glamorous, this brow will get you noticed.

Try these brows soon and enjoy a modern romance or two or all three!

Monat Hair Care

Like most women, my hair has always been a huge part of my identity, and like most women, it has also been the bane of my existence. Not only did I grow up in the humid swamp that is Miami, but I also was blessed with lots of wavy hair that is as fickle as South Florida weather. There has been no struggle more real than keeping my tresses in check. Styling tools, anti-frizz serums, hydrating masks…holy water…you name it, I’ve tried it. Which is why I am incredibly particular of the products I use. However, because my hair never ceases to chill out, I’m kind of always on the market for something better.

My friends at Monat sent me care package recently of some products and I was a bit skeptical, but eager to try. It’s chic packaging and pleasant smell were definitely a good place to start. 3 weeks later, I’m delighted to report that after using the Balance Treatment System, my hair is more hydrated, softer to the touch and has significantly more shine.monat-0013monat-0045monat-0017

Here’s the scoop on each:

Renew Shampoo: this salt and sulfate-free hydrating formula gently cleanses while moisturizing the scalp. It helps boost natural hair growth while strengthening the hair follicle, but all I see is shiny, healthier hair and a balanced scalp.

Restore Leave-In conditioner: this nourishing leave-in conditioner revives each hair strand while restoring essential nutrients to the scalp. My hair is hydrated, my frizz is tamed, and my tresses has never been this soft. It’s not heavy or greasy so I couldn’t even tell I had product in my hair.

Replenish Masque: this hydrating masque was perfect for my damaged, moisture-starved hair. It works fast (5-10 minutes) to hydrate and heal, leaving my hair silky smooth. It also works particularly well on my colored treated ends too.

Overall, I’m incredibly impressed and happy to see results so quickly. My hair feels stronger and less susceptible to humidity, it’s also much more manageable. I also love all the things Monat likes to leave out of their products like harmful fragrances, sulfates and parabens. I can’t wait to continue using Monat consistently and garner even better results. As you know my darling birds, I never promote anything I don’t absolutely love myself. I think you’ll be just as impressed as I am, so do yourself a favor and check them out! Learn more about the individual product by clicking on each link, but you can purchase directly with Monat consultant Jennifer Sanzo who will guide you in the right direction, shop with her here , she’s terrific!

Till next time pretty birds,

Lip It Good

I may not be a beauty blogger, but few things excite me as much as discovering new beauty products and telling the world about them! I’m the ‘you-know-what-you- gotta-try?’ girl and proud of it. lip-it-0454lip-it-0445lip-it-0458

Whether it’s a $40 dollar mascara that has changed my life, or a drug store lipstick, I live for the excitement of discovery and the satisfaction of sharing that discovery! My most recent discovery, was Miami based, Esque Cosmetics. To be honest, as much of a Millennial I am, I usually don’t shop for cosmetics online, sight unseen. For me, part of the thrill is in the tactile experience, the 5 different color swatches on my hand or wrist, trying it on, smelling it …etc.  However, I like to remain open, and shopping online does have it’s time saving perks. When I discovered Esque, I was immediately drawn to their simple yet vibrant website and beautiful, cleverly named lip shades. I couldn’t decide on one shade, so naturally, I choose 3. The site was very easy to shop, and my products got to me quicker than expected. The clean, chic black and white packaging had me at hello…but what was inside was even better! All 3 shades were the exact beautiful shade I expected- the pictures on the site actually did them justice. Once I tried each of them on, their high quality formula was obvious. The two Creme lipsticks I chose, went on velvety smooth but stayed put, no liner needed, with an excellent color pay off! The Liquid Matte I chose applied like a liquid, then immediately dried down to a hydrated matte finish. Just one application lasted me ALL DAY LONG, no bleeding or cracking, just beautiful color till I removed it. Like all great long wear formulas, I did need a little help from my oil based makeup remover, but it was off in seconds.lip-it-0437lip-it-0477

I was incredibly impressed by the quality of the lipsticks, especially at their price point ($10-$20), and happy to support a local business. It’s hard to believe they only launched their lipsticks one year ago! I have no doubt they are well on their way to becoming a well known, trusted brand. They certainly have my vote! Now here’s my favorite part; you know what you gotta try ?

Cheers to the discovery of great cosmetics!

Stay beautiful,

  1. Morgans Moisturizer : all natural ingredients, no fragrance, no problem.
  2. NYX Born To Glow Liquid Illuminator: lightweight and subtle, this has been my go to highlight.
  3. EOS Shave Cream: the maker of those adorably addictive lip balm balls makes a shave cream that is hands down the best shave cream I have ever used! It provides 24 hours of deep moisture and smells amazing ( Vanilla Bliss is my fave). This has actually made me enjoy shaving my legs, which is a miracle.
  4. Rimmel ScandalEyes Waterproof Eyeliner Pencil: I hoard eyeliners of all colors and price points, and this became one of my favorites this summer. Goes on smooth, great color payoff, and stays on all day- everything you’d want from a $7 pencil and more.
  5. Katy Kat Eye Hydro-fuge Mascara by Covergirl: This collection had a major moment this summer, and there is a reason for the hype other than the cute packaging and pop star affliation. The wand has a nice design and the formula goes on with out clumps and stays on while giving your lashes a pretty flair. It gives a noticeable boost, but it’s still subtle enough for daytime wear.
  6. Katy Kat Matte Lip: What’s not to love! The names are as cute as the wide array of colors. It provides a nice matte finish without over drying. My fave colors include Maroon Meow and Coral Cat.
  7. Rimmel Lasting Finish by Kate Lipstick: Another celeb with a K had a lipstick collection this summer, and I have been obsessed with the Kate Moss line. Especially the Rossetto shade, I wear it everyday, and it goes with everything beautifully.

Blo Me

I have had several life long dreams: to live in New York, find everlasting love, travel the world, and to be able to wash my hair and let it air dry straight.

HA.

I’ll just keep dreaming on that last one, because my mass of wavy tresses combined with the eternal humidity that my geographical location guarantees is the ultimate dream killer. However, there is a tiny slice of salvation, brought to me by three little letters: B L O.

Bare Necessities

When living in South Florida, one should keep their beach bag ready by the door before the afternoon monsoon rolls in. Whether it’s a day trip to the beach or a quick dip in the pool, having the right essentials is key to getting just what you came for- a bit of sun and relaxation.

Do you know what’s in your lipstick? How about your face wash?  I like things black and white, and I want to know what is in my makeup bag as much as I want to know what is and is NOT  in my food.

Nothing makes you more aware that the times are- a- changin’, than a birthday; which I had a few months back.

I took a closer look at my skin, and it had definitely changed, much to my displeasure.
